This area is made up of ten woods scattered across Herefordshire. They consist of a mix of broadleaf and conifer plantations and include Haugh Wood which is entirely a SSSI and Frith and Conigree woods which are within the Malverns AONB.
Hereford, Ledbury, Ross-on-Wye, and Newent are the nearest towns or villages.

Salcey Forest is an oasis of nature and history only 7 miles from the centre of Northampton - come and discover why elephants roamed the forest and where to find a roman road! There are extensive trails to help you explore the forest, with three walking trails, two of which are all-access paths. Home-made hot specials, main meals, snacks and hot & cold drinks are available at The Forest Cafe, or for a yummy treat visit the Ice Cream Parlour.
