Brontė Parsonage Museum

The Bronte Parsonage Museum reopened on 1st February 2008. This year's features are a special exhibition "No Coward Soul" celibrating the life and work of Emily Bronte the author of Wuthering Heights and a redisplay of Branwell Bronte's paintings. The exhibition will be the first time all of the Society's Emily collection has been on display together.

In this museum we remember: - The Cheshire Regiment - The Cheshire Yeomanry - The 3rd Carabiniers - The 5th Royal Iniskilling Dragoon Guards - Eaton Hall Officer Cadet School And several other small Cheshire units - some now long retired (often from bigger corps of the Army). We also remember the important role of the women of the Regiments and the lives of those who were left behind when the men left home to fight.

In 1973 the Museum was the first winner of the coveted 'Museum of the Year' award. The permanent collections include displays linked to the Arts and Crafts movement, 'Swallows and Amazons' author Arthur Ransome, and the Victorian period. There are also a variety of temporary displays, drawing on our wonderful costume collection which dates from the seventeenth century onwards.
