Beale Park
Beale Park in Lower Basildon - some 400 acres of parkland and water meadows along the banks of the Thames- celebrates its 45th year of public service this year under the terms of the charitable trust set up by Gilbert Beale, a benefactor renowned for his eccentricity and his love of the countryside. His bird collection has since been substantially developed to include flamingos, water fowl of all kinds, parrots, cranes and special collections of rare breeds of owls, pheasant, and pigeons.
